The EVH® 5150® Iconic® Series caters to the needs of gigging and recording guitarists craving that powerful EVH tube tone at a more affordable price. Evolving from the revered EVH 5150III® amplifiers, the Iconic Series delivers searing sound and growling gain that Eddie Van Halen made famous throughout his groundbreaking career.
Designed by renowned amp engineer, James Brown, the 5150® Iconic® Series 80W Head is powered by four 6L6 power tubes and voiced by a complex, multi-stage hybrid preamp section anchored by a duet of ECC83 tubes to provide all the firepower the modern guitarist needs.
This head features two channels, each with an extra voicing for additional versatility. The Green channel has an overdrive button to transition smoothly from lush clean tones to increased gain, while the Red channel’s burn button adds fiery crunch perfect for blistering leads.
Each channel has its own gain and volume controls, allowing players to level-match the volume when switching between channels. A quick attack noise gate on channel two suppresses any hiss, ensuring staccato riffing remains articulate and crisp. The Boost control adds another 10Db of foot-switchable volume to your tone, perfect for ensuring solos cut through the mix. The control panel also features shared EQ (Low, Mid, High), global resonance and presence knobs, and global reverb control for adding the right amount of bounce and decay.
Other features include a dual-button footswitch, effects loop, dual parallel speaker output jacks, a power level switch for reduced wattage, and a speaker-emulated DI XLR for accurate all-tube EVH tone for recording or PA use.
